From a single delivery van to a national wholesale kitchen supplier

Chef Link Express started with a simple observation: South African restaurant owners were wasting time chasing multiple suppliers for cookware, knives, and smallwares. We decided to build one dependable channel for the tools a working kitchen actually needs.

2016

The first order book

We began by supplying stainless steel stockpots and chef knives to three independent restaurants in Cape Town. Orders were packed by hand in a rented garage, and deliveries ran on a single second-hand van. The lesson from those early months: chefs value consistency over variety.

2018

Category-based ordering

Restaurant managers told us they needed to restock pastry tools, probes, and plating dishes in one go. We reorganized the catalog into clear categories with quantity pricing, so repeat buyers could compare bulk options without calling for a quote. Order accuracy improved and delivery routes became predictable.

2020

Hospitality training partnerships

Culinary schools and hospitality training centers approached us for dependable starter kits. We introduced education pricing and scheduled term-based deliveries, ensuring students train on the same grade of equipment used in professional kitchens. This channel now makes up a meaningful share of our volume.

2022

Commercial zone delivery network

As demand spread beyond Cape Town, we built scheduled delivery runs for commercial zones in Johannesburg, Durban, and Gqeberha. Instead of promising overnight to everyone, we publish fixed delivery windows per area. Kitchens plan their stock around a reliable calendar, not a vague estimate.

2023

Streamlined checkout for repeat buyers

Our regular customers wanted faster reordering, not a new marketplace. We introduced saved order templates and a checkout flow that remembers delivery preferences and previous quantities. The result: a returning kitchen can place a full restock order in under three minutes.

Today

A dependable partner for daily service

Chef Link Express now supplies hundreds of restaurants, catering businesses, and training centers across South Africa. We have not changed our core approach: stock dependable tools, group orders by category, and deliver on a schedule kitchens can trust. Every decision still starts with a conversation about how a kitchen actually works.

The people behind the supply chain

A team that has worked the line, not just the order book

Chef Link Express was built by former head chefs, procurement managers, and hospitality trainers who know what breaks, what dulls, and what slows down a busy pass. We stock what we would actually use in our own kitchens.

Why Chef Link Express exists

Built for kitchens that never stop moving

Chef Link Express started with a simple observation: restaurant owners and catering teams across South Africa spend too much time chasing reliable suppliers. We exist to make wholesale ordering of professional culinary equipment straightforward, so your focus stays on the food leaving your pass, not on hunting down a missing stockpot.

Practical standards, not promises

Every knife set, pan, and probe in our catalog is selected for daily commercial service. We test for handle comfort, heat distribution, and edge retention under repeated use, because equipment that fails mid-service costs more than the purchase price.

Ordering that respects your workflow

We group products by category with quantity pricing and delivery windows matched to commercial zones. Repeat buyers get a checkout that remembers their usual order, so restocking a busy kitchen takes minutes, not an afternoon of form filling.

Support for the next generation

Hospitality training centers rely on us for dependable tools that survive student kitchens. When a trainee learns on gear that behaves predictably, they carry that confidence into their first professional shift.

The effect we measure

A kitchen that orders once and gets it right. A chef who trusts their tools during a dinner rush. A catering team that spends less time on admin and more time on preparation. That is the standard we hold ourselves to with every shipment from our warehouse at 400 Mashele Falls.
